Overview

Nag Tibba is also known as Serpent’s Peak. It is the highest peak (9915 ft) in the Nagtibba range of the Garhwal Himalayas and is said to be the abode of Nag Devta. The trek takes you through dense forests rich in flora and fauna.

Bill Aitken, a notable travel writer, has mentioned Nag Tibba as ‘A classic trek in the vicinity of Mussoorie’, just short of that magical elevation of 10,000 feet. A beautiful mix of Oak and Deodar forests bustling with birds and wildlife and an opportunity to see the unique way of life of the people in a Garhwali village is, to say the least, inviting.

Itinerary
day 1
DEHRADOON TO PANTWARI (95KMS DRIVE) AND 6KMS TREK TO CAMPSITE

We start the day ahead of schedule from Dehradoon. Along these lines we can stay away from the activity towards Mussoorie and Kamptee falls. Mussoorie is 22kms from Dehradoon and Kamptee falls another 17kms further. The street proceeds with downhill from here towards the Yamuna stream informal lodging the town of Nainbagh. One street proceeds towards yamunotri while we take the smaller street which climbs tough towards Pantwari town. This takes us behind the Mussoorie edge and into shepherd an area. Gujjars with their tamed sheep and goats are seen on slope tops. Terraced ranches and slope slants spotted with Bauhinia trees with their purple blooms are a sight to photo.

These blooming trees are effortlessly distinguished by their leaves which are in the state of a camels’ foot. Following a hour later we achieve Pantwari town and start our rising to our campground. With donkeys conveying the baggage one can appreciate the town setting and life. Ladies are seen taking a shot at the wheat and green pea fields. Men are for the most part utilized in government employments in the fields or work as doormen and aides. Our trekking trail ascends past the homesteads and enters wild an area. Blossoms and feathered creatures are bounty here. Most noticeable blooms are white anemones (a blossoming bush) while among feathered creatures the wilderness babbler, red vented bulbul, blue cheeked bulbul, slope myna, larks and tits are normal. We achieve our outdoors ground by night to appreciate the dusk over the slope goads. The outdoors ground is flush with mint leaves which can be blended to shape a delightful mix of mint tea or the kandali bush can be washed and cooked to frame a wonderful saag.
